Terms of Service

These Terms govern your use of the Foody mobile app ("Foody", "the app"). By installing or using the app you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

Foody is operated by Stepan Turovskiy, an independent developer ("we", "us"). Contact: foodysupport@gmail.com.

1. What Foody is — and is not

Foody is an informational and lifestyle tool. It reads food barcodes and meal photos and shows ingredients, allergens, diet fit and estimated nutrition, to help you make everyday food choices.

Foody is not:

Always read the actual product label and consult a qualified professional for medical, allergy or dietary decisions. See the separate Medical & Safety Disclaimer, which forms part of these Terms.

2. No warranty on accuracy

Product information comes largely from Open Food Facts, a community-edited open database, and from other sources and AI estimates. This data can be incomplete, out of date or wrong; ingredients and recipes change; and the allergen/diet analysis and photo-based nutrition figures are automated estimates, not verified facts.

The app is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind (to the maximum extent permitted by law), including any warranty of accuracy, completeness, fitness for a particular purpose, or that a result is correct or safe for you. You must verify any allergen, ingredient or nutrition information against the product's own label before relying on it, especially where an allergy or medical condition is involved.

3. Your responsibilities

You agree to:

4. Accounts

An account is optional and exists only to back up and sync your data. You may sign in anonymously, with Google, or with an email address. You are responsible for activity under your account. You can delete your account and its cloud data at any time (in-app: Profile → Account → Delete account; or via the web deletion page). See the Privacy Policy for what is stored.

5. Content you submit (photos and contributions)

If you submit photos to help add or correct a product, or choose a public nickname:

Where a contribution is added to the Open Food Facts ecosystem, the applicable open-data licence (ODbL) may also apply to that data.

6. Points and leaderboard

Points (XP), levels and leaderboard placement are a non-monetary, engagement-only feature. They have no cash value, can be adjusted or reset to correct abuse or errors, and confer no entitlement. You can opt out of the public leaderboard at any time.

7. Third-party services and data

The app relies on third parties (Open Food Facts, Google Firebase, Google Gemini API, Vercel, MongoDB, Telegram). Their own terms and privacy policies govern their part of the processing; we are not responsible for third-party services beyond our own use of them. Product data © Open Food Facts contributors, licensed under the Open Database License (ODbL) v1.0.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for any harm arising from reliance on information shown by the app (including allergen, diet or nutrition results) where you have not verified it against the product label. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law (for example, for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or your statutory consumer rights).

9. Changes and termination

We may update the app and these Terms; material changes will be reflected by a new "last updated" date. Continued use after a change means you accept it. You may stop using the app and delete it at any time.

10. Governing law and contact

These Terms are governed by the laws of Ukraine, without prejudice to the mandatory consumer-protection rules of your own country of residence.
